ShoutWiki Hub:Wiki Adoptions

ShoutWiki — express yourself and be heard!
Jump to navigation Jump to search

If a wiki has no active stewards, admins or bureaucrats, we will give you the option to adopt the wiki. Adoption will grant the adopting user steward and admin rights on the wiki.

Criteria for adoption

Wiki criteria

  • You must be the only active user on the wiki.
    • If there is more than one active user on the wiki, you must discuss the adoption and who gets user rights with the other user(s) and link to the discussion.
  • There must have been no active users making edits for the past 30 days.
  • Note: Spambots and staff deleting spambot edits are exempt from these rules.

User criteria

  • The adopting user must not have adopted a wiki in the last 30 days.
  • The adopting user must have made at least 100 constructive mainspace edits.
  • The adopting user must have shown an obvious interest in the wiki's topic.

Adopting a wiki

To adopt a wiki, simply fill out the below details, formatting it in the same way:

Name of wiki

  • Link to wiki: (Format like this: [[s:w:wiki subdomain|Name of the wiki]])
  • Username on wiki:
  • Link to your contributions page:
  • Reason for adoption: ~~~~

Other notes

ShoutWiki staff have the final decision over who adopts a wiki. Even if both the wiki and the user fulfill all the criteria listed above, ShoutWiki staff can refuse to give out user rights to the user at the staff member's discretion. If you fill in the adoption details incorrectly, ShoutWiki staff can refuse you any user rights.

Adoption requests

Premium

  • Premium. I wanna adopt this because there is no interest in the community of encyclopedists --Penarc (talk) 15:21, 19 October 2013 (UTC)

Omniverse Wiki

Off Topic Spinoffs

  • Link to wiki: Off Topic Spinoffs
  • Username on wiki: Rtcity
  • Link to your contributions page: Here.
  • Reason for adoption: even though the off topic spinoffs community already has a wiki at pokemonnation.shoutwiki, our wiki has always historically been hosted at offtopicspinoffs, and the only reason it has moved to pokemonnation is because the admin of offtopicspinoffs went rogue a long time ago, forcing us to move. now that he is gone from offtopicspinoffs, and the place is abandoned, i'd like to adopt the place and fix it back up into our main wiki

Harry Potter

  • Link to wiki: Harry Potter
  • Username on wiki: Percy
  • Link to your contributions page: s:w:harrypotter:Special:Contributions/Percy
  • Reason for adoption: I am cleaning up the wiki. I have formatted the missing infoboxes and currently emptying Category:Pages with broken file links. With user rights, I will have access to Help:Contents (customizing facilities) to complete the project.

BZPB Wiki

  • Link to wiki: BZPB Wiki
  • Username on wiki: Kon
  • Link to your contributions page: s:w:bzpb:Special:Contributions/Kon
  • Reason for adoption: The founder of the wiki is inactive; his last edit was eight months ago. Because we still talk on a regular basis, I have received his permission to take over the wiki. -Kon (talk) 08:53, 3 August 2016 (UTC)
Granted. Keep up the good work. --Lewis Cawte (talk) ShoutWiki Staff 11:30, 3 August 2016 (UTC)

Nintendogs Wiki

  • Link to wiki: Nintendogs Wiki
  • Username on wiki: DreamIsland
  • Link to your contributions page: I haven't contributed
  • Reason for adoption: The Shoutwiki Nintendogs Wiki was not made by any staff or former staff of the Nintendogs Wikia. And was made when the Nintendogs Wikia was still in rough condition with a lot of vandalisim because there were no active admins. The Nintendogs Wikia currently has 3 active staff. Me, SodaDog and CosmicSour. I have attempted to do a Nintendogs Wiki on Miraheze... Didn't felt right for me. I tried doing one on Referata. Their servers were so slow... Back on the Nintendogs Wikia. I'm not happy with all of the BS decisions Fandom has made. 2015 was the start of the "featured articles". Never saw anyone liking it. I remembered that Lifestyle wikis always had "Parenting Tricks". Now in 2019. Guess what? It's only articles about ethier Gaming, Movies or TV shows. So now i'm stuck on ethier Miraheze (Inconvient) or Wikia/Fandom... The ShoutWiki Nintendogs Wiki was last edited by THAX-39 in 2016

Frickipedia

  • Link to wiki: Frickipedia
  • Username on wiki: Awkr
  • Link to your contributions page: Here.
  • Reason for adoption: There has been very sporadic activity on the wiki (vandalism aside) in the past few years, and most of the few pages on there (including the main page) are empty. The admin of this wiki s:w:frickipedia:Special:Contributions/Hammer55 was last active on 19 June 2015. I've made an effort during the past month to edit the wiki, as I believe it could become worthwhile one day. ~Awkr —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Awkr (talkcontribs) 18:08, 3 October 2019‎ (UTC). Blogger Beware Annotated

  • Link to wiki: Blogger Beware Annotated
  • Username on wiki: GoosebumpsArt
  • Link to your contributions page: Here.
  • Reason for adoption: This is an older wiki that I didn't have a part in establishing, but I enjoy visiting it. There are no active editors besides me... And the occasional spam-bot. I'd like to help curb any spamming. (Also, I might like to update the wiki's theming, as text in the references section becomes difficult to read when the text is highlighted.) GoosebumpsArt (talk) 21:45, 27 December 2019 (UTC)

PokeMMO

  • Link to your contributions page: s:w:en.pokemmo:Special:Contributions/Hajleh12
  • Reason for adoption: I would like to adopt the wiki. There is no activity from admin side in the last 3-4 years. But there are many thing what we are planning to fix, for example the common.css what requires admin rights.

I tried to contact with [[s:w:en.pokemmo:User talk:Easton West|Easton West], who created the wiki, but I didn't get any response.

My contribution page: s:w:en.pokemmo:Special:Contributions/Hajleh12 Also there are some fake/spam pages (advertizing) what I would like to clear. I already have around 1000 modification on that wiki.
The other 2 user who is cooperating with me: OMGmacros, YamCider. Thank you. --Hajleh12 (talk) 17:36, 8 January 2022 (UTC)

Yes Approved, thank you for your work on the wiki and apologies for the delay in handling this once again! --Jack PhoenixShoutWiki Staff (Contact) 01:47, 16 March 2022 (UTC)

Bad Webcomics Wiki

  • Link to wiki: BadWebcomicsWiki
  • Username on wiki: Webkilla
  • Link to your contributions page: Contribution page link
  • Reason for adoption: Our former admin Oddguy left the community a while ago (last active in 2018), and we're unable to promote new mods to help maintain the wiki and defend against vandals. I'm one of the community's most active users, as well as admin for the community forum.
Yes Approved, thank you for adopting the wiki and as always, let me (or another ShoutWiki staff member) know if you need any help! --Jack PhoenixShoutWiki Staff (Contact) 16:05, 21 May 2022 (UTC)
    • Thanks. Can I also be added to the Bureaucrat and Rollback roles. Part of the idea of adopting the wiki was so I could promote new mods in the future. Webkilla (talk) 21:04, 21 May 2022 (UTC)
      • @Webkilla: Your steward rights should allow you to grant yourself those roles to both yourself and others. --Lewis Cawte (talk) ShoutWiki Staff 00:12, 28 February 2023 (UTC)

Weirdcyclopedia

  • Link to wiki: Weirdcyclopedia
  • Username on wiki: SuperStreetKombat
  • Link to your contributions page: http://weirdcyclopedia.shoutwiki.com/wiki/Special:Contributions/SuperStreetKombat
  • Reason for adoption: Lately, this wiki's been having some serious issues such as edit warring and vandalism, mostly caused by a vandal called -abigblueworld-, who's also been creating troll pages and sockpuppet accounts, and she and her sock accounts haven't been blocked, and those pages that troll me made by her haven't even been deleted yet, so since Salarvander is barely active on that wiki these days (I don't mean to downplay him or nothing), I think someone else like me should become a new admin or even a mod so that all the mess that's been going on there is cleaned up and disruptive users like -abigblueworld- are dealt with. Thanks in advance.

Please. If anyone sees this, please let me adopt Weirdcyclopedia, because I really like the wiki, and I want it to be my new wiki home after Qualitipedia got shut down, but it's been having some major problems like edit warring, vandalism, and sockpuppets, and none of those issues are fixed, all because Salarvander is no longer there, and if you can't promote me to an admin or even a mod there, then Weirdcyclopedia will continue to be an absolute mess with no administration whatsoever and will probably be shut down in the next month or so, and I don't want that to happen, so please, please give me permission to adopt the wiki so that I can improve it. SuperStreetKombat (talk) 12:15, 18 December 2022 (UTC)

Being in the middle of an active edit war over the content or some personal disagreemtn doesn't really show a community consensus, or the character of a good admin and community leader. I'm currently more inclined to delete the wiki than grant any permissions. These wikis have been causing issues like this for years, and are a big part in why they keep getting shut down here and at other wiki farms. Sort it out, or find somewhere else to be toxic. --Lewis Cawte (talk) ShoutWiki Staff 23:58, 27 February 2023 (UTC)
Again, I apologize for having engaged in that edit war; it's just that the anon there is actually Leerdoman74 (AKA FighterMortalHyper) and was responsible for all the incivil summaries and edit wars. Not to mention that he likes to evade his ban by using other anons to return to Weirdcyclopedia. I'll try to sort the issue out like you suggested, and (maybe?) you may reconsider letting me adopt the wiki. I once again apologize for what happened today and I'll do everything I can to avoid doing anymore edut wars with users like Leerdo. Additionally, I was also an admin on a few wikis on Miraheze, and I had a pretty decebt track record there. I made some mistakes, sure, but I was fairly trustworthy enough to be an admin there, so I hope you'll take this into account. SuperStreetKombat (talk) 4:08, 27 February 2023 (UTC)

PokeMMO

  • Reason for adoption: I would like to adopt the wiki. The admin hasn't been communicating with Jashto and I. There are changes that are unable to happen without sufficient privileges. I've been active on the wiki for nearly 6 months and I check it literally every day to validate recent changes.

I tried to contact with Hajleh12, who is the current admin on the wiki, but I didn't get any response. I already have around over 2000 modification on that wiki.
The one other user who is cooperating with me: Jashto. Thank you.

I'm inclined to grant this if you can show me some sort of community consensus. As there are a number of other active users, please demonstrate you have the support of your community - whether that be by collecting support here (and please be inclusive when requesting this, i.e, don't just ask those who will definitely support you) or in a "forum" of some sort on the wiki. The latter is preferable, and then you can provide an interwiki link to the discussion. --Lewis Cawte (talk) ShoutWiki Staff 23:58, 27 February 2023 (UTC)
Hello, I'm curious as to what you define as an active user? The wiki has a pretty consistent flow of accounts that sign up, make an edit, and then never come back. As far as I'm aware there are only two users that I would consider active on there. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by NinjaL1nk (talkcontribs) 03:45, 11 March 2023‎ (UTC). Please sign your posts with --~~~~!
Anyone with an account who has made multiple edits in the last 30 days, as a start. I'd message those that have either more than two edits in one day or have multiple edits across multiple days.
I'll also note that Hajleh12 has granted you various permissions until August within the last 30 days. Temporary permissions are a newer feature in MediaWiki core - have a look to see if you can grant yourself sysop rights? I'm going to put this on hold for now, as there are clearly active rights holders on the wiki. If the community decide, or at least, don't object to you being granted permanent rights, you can either grant them via Hajleh12 or we can sort that out for you. --Lewis Cawte (talk) ShoutWiki Staff 21:58, 11 March 2023 (UTC)
