I was looking at Wikia Community Central's Special:Version, and not only do they use an outdated version of MediaWiki, but they also have an extension called MonetizationModule. But wait, there's more; I found references in their GitHub to "Project Venus" and "Project Mercury". Wikia is seriously creepy. AOTCP69zhere (talk) 23:24, 26 July 2016 (UTC)

SponsorshipDashboard. We only have 1 extension to handle ads and Wikia has a million. AOTCP69zhere (talk) 23:32, 26 July 2016 (UTC)
Wikia's version isn't really outdated. They have stabilized at a particular version of the interfaces, then they backport current core MediaWiki to them. Venus was their beta desktop skin. Mercury is their mobile skin. Do we really care here? --Saftzie (talk) 01:15, 27 July 2016 (UTC)
We only have "ShoutWiki Ads" and Wikia has tons and tons of ad extensions. Wasn't that my main point? AOTCP69zhere (talk) 03:14, 27 July 2016 (UTC)
Wikia often deals directly with their advertisers, and runs lots of custom, more profitable ad campaigns across their sites. We don't have the time or expertise to do that yet (although if there is an advertiser particularly desiring a campaign on ShoutWiki, I'm happy to try and accommodate that) --Lewis Cawte (talk) ShoutWiki Staff 12:52, 28 July 2016 (UTC)
Giving projects codenames isn't creepy. CJC (talk) 11:26, 29 July 2016 (UTC)
I was talking about the large number of advertising extensions Wikia has. AOTCP69zhere (talk) 19:34, 29 July 2016 (UTC)
I get what you're saying. It's not right to make billions of dollars off of someone else's work (though personally I only edit wiki's out of pure boredom). Jello chitchat! 02:41, 3 August 2016 (UTC)
