I want to have a Latest News section on the front page with easy to enter new items appearing at the top of the list pushing everything else down. What's the best way to do this? Thame Theatre Technical (talk) 15:38, 30 October 2017 (UTC)

It depends on how you intend to enter the new items. Most wikis would probably transclude a template onto a more of less static main page, then just edit the template manually. If you intend to pick up news items automatically somehow, you'd need to specify more exactly what you mean. --Saftzie (talk) 17:04, 30 October 2017 (UTC)
I would be entering the items myself (so not RSSing or similar from outside source). I just want to make it look more appealing than just lines of text as it is currently at s:w:thametheatretechnical. Thame Theatre Technical (talk) 17:19, 30 October 2017 (UTC)
If you just want to change the appearance of the list to something more visually appealing, there are lots of ways different wikis and other web sites do it: boxes around text, bold headers, etc. I'm not sure there's an exact recipe for "what looks nice." Just look around at other web sites to see if there's something you like and copy the style. --Saftzie (talk) 17:41, 30 October 2017 (UTC)
