Can users include links to a website promoting their own business or include text within a wiki page that lists the services provided by that business? Is it against the rules of ShoutWiki? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 92.2.80.140 (talkcontribs) 10:06, 17 November 2019‎ (UTC). Please sign your posts with --~~~~!

Generally we would consider such links as spam on Hub. On your own wiki, it would depend on the policies and purpose of that wiki. By the way you have posed the question (i.e., purely self-promotional), I believe staff would consider the entire wiki to be spam and subject to immediate deletion. An additional consideration is that ShoutWiki uses Google for ads. Google has its own terms of service about what content can or cannot be on sites where its ads appear. --Saftzie (talk) 10:46, 17 November 2019 (UTC)
As Saftzie alludes to, context is everything. We host a number of business documentation wikis which list things in regards to their services. Those are fine. We're generally not for purely promotional material, and if it doesn't add value to the content of a site, we're generally against it. --Lewis Cawte (talk) ShoutWiki Staff 22:29, 17 November 2019 (UTC)
