Forum:(Solved) Disabling unregistered users to make changes on my wiki

I'm dealing with a "content removal" attack on my wiki site. First I tried to resolve the situation by contacting the user's IP address, using its talk page, but this let me nowhere, because the user simply ignored to communicate, and after I restored the page to its original form, he/she removed the same content again. It looks like the user is probably using some kind of proxy, because the second IP address is different from the first one. After reading some advices on the official MediaWiki documentation, I decided that the best solution would be to disallow editing for "all non-registered users, that use Tor when editing content", thus if the said user strikes again, I can ban his/her real IP address. It's also a lot easier to deal with registered users, because he/she needs to create a new account everytime he/she wants to vandalize on some of the pages. You can track the progress using this s:w:tep:Special:RecentChanges link. Many thanks in advance. --MYself (talk) 13:58, 3 January 2014 (UTC)

It's also worth noting, that Wikipedia is using the exact same solution I would like to see applied on ShoutWiki globally, or just my wiki page. Maybe connecting this site to Wikipedia's list of banned IP adresses (somehow), will be the best solution here. --MYself (talk) 15:05, 3 January 2014 (UTC)
By using this online tool, I found out that both the IP adresses does not come from a Tor node. Therefore I will try to block both IP adresses and will see what happens. Hope the attacker does not use some VPN service for the attack, because that will mean blocking not only Tor users from editing, but all the non-Tor users too. --MYself (talk) 15:53, 3 January 2014 (UTC)

Thank you. I will follow your advice, and we'll see what happens next. --MYself (talk) 11:19, 4 January 2014 (UTC)
After ten IP blockages and a week more, there were no other attacks on my wiki. Because of that, I'm marking this topic as solved. --MYself (talk) 22:43, 15 January 2014 (UTC)
