Extensions[edit source]

Where can I get a download of all of the installed extensions?

--D444 (talk) 09:41, 26 October 2010 (UTC)

Most extensions can be downloaded from the official MediaWiki Subversion repository; check Special:Version and the links there. You may also want to take a look at ShoutWiki Hub:Open source. --Jack Phoenix ShoutWiki Staff (contact) 16:05, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
However, some of them don't look like they are at mediawiki.org. Like Phalanx. --D444 (talk) 04:40, 27 October 2010 (UTC)
Phalanx wasn't originally developed by us, but neverthless it was developed for use on wiki farms. It relies on a few things that are specific to ShoutWiki, and thus it won't be usable outside ShoutWiki in its current state. We'll eventually try to clean it up so that third parties can use it too, but unfortunately that is not the most important thing on our to-do list. --Jack Phoenix ShoutWiki Staff (contact) 13:42, 27 October 2010 (UTC)
However, can I still download some of the extensions? --D444 (talk) 20:21, 27 October 2010 (UTC)
Yes, see my first reply. --Jack Phoenix ShoutWiki Staff (contact) 21:05, 27 October 2010 (UTC)
I also see the extensions HostedBy and SoftwareVersion. They would be easy to adapt right? --D444 (talk) 05:18, 29 October 2010 (UTC)
HostedBy uses the SkinTemplateOutputPageBeforeExec hook and SoftwareVersion uses the SoftwareInfo hook — both extensions are very simple. --Jack Phoenix ShoutWiki Staff (contact) 14:14, 29 October 2010 (UTC)
However, I don't know how to edit php. So where can I download HostedBy, SoftwareVersion, MyInfo and Send to a Friend? --D444 (talk) 20:57, 29 October 2010 (UTC)
If you don't know PHP, then why are you interested in MediaWiki extensions, if I may ask? You need some level of PHP knowledge for running your own MediaWiki instance.
In any case, I've asked our tech team to take a look at your request; the MyInfo and Send to a Friend extensions will be committed to the official MediaWiki Subversion repository at http://svn.wikimedia.org/ soon. HostedBy extension is a part of ShoutWiki branding, it won't be useful outside ShoutWiki and the same goes for SoftwareVersion; it's meant to show the weekly release number in Special:Version. --Jack Phoenix ShoutWiki Staff (contact) 21:52, 31 October 2010 (UTC)

Sidebar color[edit source]

Hello. I was trying to change the sidebar boxes color at my wiki, but without changing the color of the tabs area at the top at the same time. Thanks. --TheHomer (talk) 20:57, 26 October 2010 (UTC)

If you are referring to this CSS, I think that the rule you tried to use is too specific. Content action tabs and sidebar portlets both have the pBody class, but only sidebar menus have the generated-sidebar class.
However, if you wanted to change, for example, the toolbox or search box portlets, then you'd need to use their IDs in the CSS rule. For example:
.generated-sidebar,
#p-search,
#p-tb {
	background: -moz-linear-gradient(top, white, lightsteelblue, lightsteelblue, lightsteelblue, lightsteelblue);
}
Let me know how it turns out. --Jack Phoenix ShoutWiki Staff (contact) 21:10, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
Michael von Preuben already gave me the code, it's equal to yours, and it works! Thanks. --TheHomer (talk) 21:22, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
Awesome! --Jack Phoenix ShoutWiki Staff (contact) 21:24, 26 October 2010 (UTC)

[edit source]

Hello, I'm one of the admins of the recently moved Spyro Wiki from Wikia. Is there a for us to put a Spyro Wiki logo to replace the ShoutWiki logo on the top left side of our wiki? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Aura24 (talkcontribs) . Please sign your posts with --~~~~!

Upload it to [[File:Wiki.png]] on your wiki, just as you do at Wikia. Also, sorry Jack for stealing your talk page, I'mma remove it from my watchlist now so I'm not tempted to answer these :v vonPreußentalk
Hi Aura24, you can upload the new logo image as Wiki.png and it'll show up immediately, just as Michael said. (Michael, no need to remove it, it's just good if you can be faster than I ;-)
I visited the Spyro Wiki and noticed this on the main page: "We are currently transporting our 819 pages from the Spyro Wiki at Wikia here!" You should be aware that copy-pasting pages without their full revision histories is not allowed as it violates copyright laws. An alternative would be to add an attribution template (such as Template:Wikipedia on Commandos Wiki) linking to the original wiki, but most wikis that are moving to us do not want to do this, which leaves the importing of full page histories as the only possible option. But no worries! You can file a request on our Bugzilla (select "Enter a new bug" → "ShoutWiki" → "Imports") and our technical staff will get to it as soon as possible. Please note that you will unfortunately need to register on Bugzilla, your wiki account will not work over there (yes, we know that it's annoying). --Jack Phoenix ShoutWiki Staff (contact) 18:15, 27 October 2010 (UTC)
And, it will take a few weeks or more, as this is the reply I received when asking when Wikisimpsons will be imported. ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 18:20, 27 October 2010 (UTC)
Yes, more about the whys and whens in the upcoming blog posts that we're going to publish within a few days. --Jack Phoenix ShoutWiki Staff (contact) 21:05, 27 October 2010 (UTC)
I haven't received a reply from the technical staff. Are there too many bugs at the moment? - Aura24 (talk) 06:35, 1 November 2010 (UTC)
We're working on improving site stability and we're hoping to resume wiki imports on the second week of November. Please be patient, although I certainly understand that waiting is annoying. --Jack Phoenix ShoutWiki Staff (contact) 19:22, 1 November 2010 (UTC)
I haven't received word from Bugzilla about the Spyro Wiki import. Are you guys still busy? - Aura24 (talk) 21:15, 28 November 2010 (UTC)
We've been working on the wiki imports ever since we got the new server up and running. That being said, we'd love to import the Spyro Wiki right away, but unfortunately it seems that its database dump is quite outdated — generated on November 9, which makes it almost three weeks old. Nobody wants to lose the edits made after November 9, which is why we're waiting for a new database dump. As soon as that's available, we'll import the wiki. --Jack Phoenix ShoutWiki Staff (contact) 17:24, 29 November 2010 (UTC)

SpecialNamespaces[edit source]

I would l like to have the [SpecialNamespaces extension] on the bible wiki, if it is possible. Samben (talk) 18:07, 29 October 2010 (UTC)

I'm afraid that won't be possible, as the namespaces extension is quite a hack and nothing else. We're working on a control panel that will allow wiki administrators to configure settings such as site language, namespaces, skin, theme and more. For now, if you need additional namespaces added to your wiki, contact a member of our Customer Support Team. --Jack Phoenix ShoutWiki Staff (contact) 18:40, 29 October 2010 (UTC)

OggHandler[edit source]

My apologies for reviving an archived subject, but has there been any word from the technical team as to whether this is possible? Thanks again, vonPreußentalk

Hi Michael, we haven't forgotten about you or OggHandler! We've been focusing on site stability issues recently (see our blog for more details), as it's the number one priority: if the site's not up, you won't be able to play any media with OggHandler. ;-)
I believe that Misza knows more about OggHandler and its current status (although be aware that he is likely busy with things related to the new server) — you may want to poke him about it. --Jack Phoenix ShoutWiki Staff (contact) 21:52, 31 October 2010 (UTC)
Ah, it's excellent to see ShoutWiki expanding to accommodate the recent influx. Well, as long as I know it's not been forgotten, I'm happy. :) Thanks again for working to provide such a great service! vonPreußentalk
Thank you for the compliments! We're hoping to make ShoutWiki even more awesome, and better uptime definitely is awesome. :) --Jack Phoenix ShoutWiki Staff (contact) 22:09, 31 October 2010 (UTC)

Does everything get moved?[edit source]

The title is self explanatory, if i move from justcause.wikia.com to here (justcause.shoutwiki.com) will everything be moved. By everything i mean:

  • Literally every page (including every user account and user page) will be moved.
  • Every link in every page will continue to work.

--Kronos (talk) 01:20, 7 November 2010 (UTC)

Yes. --Jack Phoenix ShoutWiki Staff (contact) 01:26, 7 November 2010 (UTC)

User rank, please?[edit source]

Would you mind adding a rank called Importer to [everything.shoutwiki.com The Everything Bagel]? They would have the same privelages as normal users, only they'd be able to import pages. EDIT: Could you also add a rank called CSS Editor who is like a normal user, only it can edit Mediawiki messages? Spark01 (talk)

Done. I've set it so that bureaucrats can add and remove both groups; if this is not how you'd like it to be, let me know. --Jack Phoenix ShoutWiki Staff (contact) 11:39, 8 November 2010 (UTC)

Thanks. :) Spark01 (talk)

Moving the Dutch Harry Potter Wiki to shout[edit source]

Hi Jack P. I and the other bureaucrat of the dutch Harry Potter wiki have decided to leave from wikia and come to shoutwiki. I know that the shoutwiki staff is bussy with working on shoutwiki and the moves from wikia. We will be moving as soon as possible. Samben (talk) 15:23, 9 November 2010 (UTC)

Awesome! Hopefully by next Monday everything related to the new server has been sorted out. You might want to keep an eye on our blog for Misza's upcoming posts regarding the new server. In the meantime, you probably should take a look at ShoutWiki Hub:Importing wikis to ShoutWiki#Method one: Database dump and letting ShoutWiki staff do it for you and file a bug on our Bugzilla, as suggested there, to make sure that your wiki gets added to the tech team's import queue. If you need help in Dutch, don't hesitate to contact Jedimca0, the Dutch-speaking member of our Customer Support Team. --Jack Phoenix ShoutWiki Staff (contact) 16:06, 9 November 2010 (UTC)

delet wiki[edit source]

Done. I also took the liberty of fixing the capitalization of s:w:zh-tw's sitename and adding interlanguage links there. --Jack Phoenix ShoutWiki Staff (contact) 13:26, 10 November 2010 (UTC)

Moving "Bloons Wiki"[edit source]

I would like to know how to quickly move content from Wikia to Shoutwiki.Drénay (talk) 22:51, 10 November 2010 (UTC)

Please see our guide to moving wikis to ShoutWiki. Feel free to ask me (or another staffer) if you need more help with importing. You might also want to take a look at our recent blog post about server upgrade timeline. --Jack Phoenix ShoutWiki Staff (contact) 22:56, 10 November 2010 (UTC)

Account creation[edit source]

Hi there. I have tried to create an account and every time I type in the blurry word (which i know is correct) it tells me I entered the incorrect word/ didn't enter a word at all. --75.176.69.71 16:09, 14 November 2010 (UTC)

Hi, thank you for the report. I pinged Misza about this and he says that the CAPTCHA is now fixed and account creation works as it should. Happy editing! --Jack Phoenix ShoutWiki Staff (contact) 17:09, 14 November 2010 (UTC)

I am still getting the error message on the login page. I am still unable to create an account. --75.176.69.71 14:22, 15 November 2010 (UTC)

Never mind, Ive managed to create an account, as you can see by mt username when I sign my post. --Hockeyben (talk) 14:25, 15 November 2010 (UTC)

Good to hear that account creation works for you! --Jack Phoenix ShoutWiki Staff (contact) 15:46, 15 November 2010 (UTC)

Importing wiki[edit source]

Hi again! As I managed to create an account I was able to create this wiki http://icehockey.shoutwiki.com/wiki/Main_Page. And I would like to import the content from this wikia wiki http://icehockey.wikia.com/wiki/Special:Statistics. Thanks, --Hockeyben (talk) 14:33, 15 November 2010 (UTC)

I've filed bug #81 on our Bugzilla regarding this; we'll let you know once the import is done. --Jack Phoenix ShoutWiki Staff (contact) 15:46, 15 November 2010 (UTC)

Thank You! --Hockeyben (talk) 15:51, 15 November 2010 (UTC)

Do deleted contributions get imported? --Hockeyben (talk) 16:07, 16 November 2010 (UTC)

I don't think that they do. --Jack Phoenix ShoutWiki Staff (contact) 18:10, 16 November 2010 (UTC)

Do you know when my wiki will be imported? I don't mean to sound impatient, i.m just curious. --Hockeyben (talk) 22:19, 22 November 2010 (UTC)

As soon as possible; there are many other wikis in our import queue, we're trying to sort them from the oldest to the newest. If you register an account or our Bugzilla, you can add yourself to the CC list for bug #81 and thus you will be notified by e-mail whenever something changes for that particular bug (i.e. if the bug summary is changed, you'll get an e-mail; same if someone adds a comment or closes the bug). --Jack Phoenix ShoutWiki Staff (contact) 22:40, 22 November 2010 (UTC)

In terms of when to expect the import, 1 week, 2 weeks, 3 weeks, more, less? --Hockeyben (talk) 16:46, 23 November 2010 (UTC)

It will be done when it gets done, there isn't an ETA. Please be patient and we'll notify you when we finish importing it. --Skizzerz ShoutWiki Staff 20:25, 23 November 2010 (UTC)

I was just asking if you knew. I recognize that you are getting a lot of import requests. --Hockeyben (talk) 21:52, 23 November 2010 (UTC)

Can I make new articles before the import is done? Will it affect the import? --Hockeyben (talk) 00:48, 24 November 2010 (UTC)

New articles will have no effect on the import, so feel free to create them. :) --Jack Phoenix ShoutWiki Staff (contact) 00:50, 24 November 2010 (UTC)

The wiki i would like to import has 40,000 pages, is that a problem? --Hockeyben (talk) 16:36, 25 November 2010 (UTC)

Wow, that's a lot of pages! :-) Is that the amount of content pages on the wiki or total pages? In any case, I believe it's not a problem; the import process will obviously last longer than if importing a wiki with (for example) 1,500 pages. --Jack Phoenix ShoutWiki Staff (contact) 17:55, 25 November 2010 (UTC)

40,000 content pages, but i really dont care if redirects are imported, or not. --Hockeyben (talk) 18:37, 25 November 2010 (UTC)

Hi! Just letting you know that Wikia has updated the dump for your wiki - it's dated Nov 24, so I have downloaded it and begun the import. I expect it might run even for an entire day. Of course, all edits done on Wikia since the dump was created will not be imported.  —мишаShoutWiki Staff 18:40, 25 November 2010 (UTC)
Yay! --Jack Phoenix ShoutWiki Staff (contact) 21:27, 25 November 2010 (UTC)

Many thanks to Jack for answering all my questions, and Misza for importing my wiki. I'll be able to do lots of work on it over the weekend. Thanks again! --Hockeyben (talk) 16:15, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

Bot[edit source]

Tank you for importing my wiki. I would like to know if there someone here on shouwtwiki who could help with making my own bot. There is a lot of work to do because of the move. I also like to know if it is possible to move the contributions of a user. The other bureaucrat of the Hp wiki had to choose a other user name, so he lost all his contributions. Samben (talk) 15:49, 19 November 2010 (UTC

I just forwarded your request to our technical staff, Misza performed the actual import; cookies go to him. :-)
It is possible to reassign edits from one user name to another (Maintenance extension, reassignEdits script). If you give me the user's old and new name, I'll be able to reassign their edits.
I've set up those interlanguage links. Please note that the Finnish Harry Potter wiki, Potterwiki, is a ShoutWiki wiki and has been for quite a while. ;-)
The technical team also set up MediaWikiAuth extension for your wiki. This means that the users of the old wiki can log in to the new ShoutWiki wiki with their Wikia credentials (username/password) and resume editing as if nothing happened. Happy editing! --Jack Phoenix ShoutWiki Staff (contact) 16:59, 19 November 2010 (UTC)
His username was wouter15 and the his new one is Wouterruygrok1994. Tank you for your work. Samben (talk) 17:05, 19 November 2010 (UTC)
Done, the edits should be reassigned now. --Jack Phoenix ShoutWiki Staff (contact) 17:07, 19 November 2010 (UTC)

Partial Importing[edit source]

Hi Jack,

Due to Wikia's skin switchover, a split developed in one wiki I edit between most of the members who wished to stay, and a minority who wished to leave. As most wished to stay, a consensus was reached to maintain the wiki at that location. However, several smaller groups who edited it have created wiki forks, mostly privately-hosted, for their individual topics.

I myself maintain a network of roleplay-related articles on the wiki as part of my contributions there. Since the skin switchover, I began porting my articles to one of the privately-hosted forks. However, as can be expected of a private, individual host, it's not complete with various extensions enabled on both Wikia and ShoutWiki, and manually porting a large number of articles has become... somewhat tiring, to be honest.

Now, one thing I have considered is setting up a separate, public, ShoutWiki wiki to host them on. Excluding files, redirects, and templates, there are about 80 'content' pages that would need to be moved, and an estimated 700 or so with those. Now, I know ShoutWiki's technical staff have the ability to fully import wikis, with their history, but do you know if it would be possible to do the same thing with only certain pages, such as those in a category (recursively), and the templates included in them?

Thanks again for your time, vonPreußentalk

I see that Jedimca0 replied to you already. Thanks Jedi! --Jack Phoenix ShoutWiki Staff (contact) 21:27, 25 November 2010 (UTC)

Slow Server[edit source]

The server on my Ice Hockey Wiki, which was just imported is very slow. I counted an average of 10 seconds to load a page in Monobook. --Hockeyben (talk) 16:55, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

The server is very fast now --Hockeyben (talk) 01:30, 28 November 2010 (UTC)

Good to hear that everything's working now! --Jack Phoenix ShoutWiki Staff (contact) 18:59, 28 November 2010 (UTC)

Maximum File Size[edit source]

I have problems that the file size limit is 2MB on every Wiki from ShoutWiki. Can you discuss with the other staff members to change the limit to 10 MB? Thanks in advance.

Oh, and BTW, is it possible for ShoutWiki to link to other wikis with use of internal links? Like when I use Mariowiki:Yoshi, that it is equal to http://www.mariowiki.com/Yoshi ? Arend (talk)

File upload size has been discussed over at bug #48 on our Bugzilla; feel free to voice your thoughts over there (you'll need a Bugzilla account for that, as always).
As for the interwiki links, you can see an up-to-date list of available interwiki (and interlanguage) prefixes on Special:Interwiki (interlanguage links are links between language variants of the same wiki; i.e. here fi: links to fi.shoutwiki.com, the Finnish ShoutWiki Hub, and on the French 24 wiki fi: prefix links to fi.24.shoutwiki.com, the Finnish 24 wiki). Currently the addition of a new interwiki prefix or multiple prefixes is decided on a case-by-case basis. I'd be interested in hearing a rationale as to why MarioWiki.com should be added to the interwiki table; I'm not saying that I oppose the idea, I just want to know why. :-) --Jack Phoenix ShoutWiki Staff (contact) 17:49, 30 November 2010 (UTC)
Will do on Bugzilla.
About the Interwiki thing, I'd like to add Mariowiki to the list, because there are actually a lot of those interwiki links on the Wiki I'm on. I also think it's a lot handier to use an interwiki Link than just the URL. Hope you agree with me on that. Arend (talk)
I'll go add MarioWiki to the interwiki list for all wikis now; I feel that it's a notable wiki with good content, so we can add it to the interwiki list. --Jack Phoenix ShoutWiki Staff (contact) 15:34, 2 December 2010 (UTC)
Much appreciated. Thanks. Arend (talk) 17:00, 2 December 2010 (UTC)

Autopedia help![edit source]

You haven't answered my question for like a few days! brought the question here. Could you tell me how to hide the redirects in the search bar? --Knightrez(Talk) 16:48, 30 November 2010 (UTC)

I have answered all your questions that you've left on my Autopedia user talk page (except the newest one, which you posted today).
Either way, to my knowledge, there is no reliable way to hide redirects from search suggestions. I believe that there might be a CSS class or something that you could (ab)use but I cannot guarantee that it'd work the way you want. --Jack Phoenix ShoutWiki Staff (contact) 17:49, 30 November 2010 (UTC)
Sorry, for not answering for a while. Well try to help me. Anything is better then nothing. I'll take anything you can offer to help. --Knightrez(Talk) 11:42, 3 December 2010 (UTC)
Seems that I was wrong, redirects in search suggestions do not have any special class, so it's not possible to filter them out with CSS. Are they really a problem, and if yes, why so? I'd guess that they'd be rather helpful for users browsing your wiki. For example, I assume that many Jedipedia users cannot remember how to write name of that Cerean Jedi Master, which is why it's good that Ki Adi Mundi, Ki-Adi Mundi and Ki Adi-Mundi redirect to Ki-Adi-Mundi. --Jack Phoenix ShoutWiki Staff (contact) 18:49, 3 December 2010 (UTC)

Monaco installation[edit source]

SG1|Hereish was nice enough to direct me to you from the IRC page. here is the question regarding the monaco skin.

I was interested in the skin on my wiki i am wondering if i could pay one of the wiki staff to install it. that money could go back into the fund to run shoutwiki i would be hosted on shoutwiki but the server i am on is faster and i would like to be able to have ftp access.

anno1404 (talk) 03:38, 1 December 2010 (UTC)

I'm not sure what you mean exactly...Monaco (like a few other skins) will be available as a premium feature for all ShoutWiki-hosted wikis. If a wiki chooses to purchase Monaco, the money they pay will be used to fund our servers. We have no plans to allow users to have FTP access, but in the future, an admin control panel of some sort will be available so that wiki administrators/bureaucrats/stewards can change wiki settings, such as language, default skin, site name and so on. --Jack Phoenix ShoutWiki Staff (contact) 15:34, 2 December 2010 (UTC)

Two more wikias coming here[edit source]

Another wikia and I are thinking of merging. I was hoping that I could first transfer my wikia here. Then when their wikia is ready to move, their wikia can be uploaded on the same wikia. I realize that the edit history of articles with the same name will be merged, but that is what we want. Is that okay?

Anno1404 (talk) 02:39, 2 December 2010 (UTC)

Hi Jack. I went ahead and replied to this question on Anno's talk page, but if you feel I left anything out, or if you just think it needs a woman's touch, then feel free to make any corrections. Cheers! Supergeeky1 (talk) 04:13, 2 December 2010 (UTC)
Awesome, Geeky, thanks for replying! As Geeky wrote, our tech team will take care of everything, all you need to do is to file a bug on Bugzilla with a detailed description of what you need done. --Jack Phoenix ShoutWiki Staff (contact) 15:34, 2 December 2010 (UTC)

Sidebar[edit source]

How do I customize my sidebar on Autopedia? --Knightrez(Talk) 14:39, 3 December 2010 (UTC)

Seems that I'm no match to Jedimca0's speed. ;-) Let me know if you need any further help in customizing the sidebar and I'll be glad to help you out. :) --Jack Phoenix ShoutWiki Staff (contact) 18:49, 3 December 2010 (UTC)

Ticket forgotten?[edit source]

Hi, I have an open ticket (#355027) since Tue, Oct 26 2010. Have you forgotten about it? Or maybe it's preferable to ask here? Scarbrow (talk) 23:57, 3 December 2010 (UTC)

Whoops, seems that I forgot about it, sorry! But yes, I personally prefer wiki talk pages for non-private issues because of the transparency and so that other users can see what's been asked and maybe even find the answer to their question without even needing to ask it!
As for the actual questions:
  1. When premium features (such as ad-free hosting) are released, the prices will be available on ShoutWiki Hub. As of now we haven't released the features yet, so the prices aren't available either.
  2. If you want to move to a different host from ShoutWiki, we'd obviously be sad to see you go, but we feel that it's only fair to honor the community's request to have our copy of the wiki deleted.
  3. As for the new namespaces, you need to give us the names of these namespaces and then we can create them for you.
  4. I'm not sure what's the status on custom domains, you should ask Misza, our CTO, about that.
Again, please accept my sincerest apology for this delayed reply! In the future, please don't hesitate to poke me here if you don't hear back from us — we're humans after all and it's human to err. --Jack Phoenix ShoutWiki Staff (contact) 00:20, 4 December 2010 (UTC)
Don't worry, we are not in a hurry, but a nice AWA member reminded of our projected move, so I decided to ask. Thank you for the answers, I've already contacted Misza. Scarbrow (talk) 03:56, 7 December 2010 (UTC)

change Name[edit source]

  • this wiki維基百科,I want to the change name, new name is 繁體中文維基百科,can you help me change name my wiki?please?--Msnhinet8 (talk) 07:30, 4 December 2010 (UTC)
Our technical staff is looking into this. --Jack Phoenix ShoutWiki Staff (contact) 16:44, 5 December 2010 (UTC)

Monaco update?[edit source]

Everyone says you are the best at getting back with people. Solar Dragon at Simpsons praises your name. As you know, Shoutwiki announced they would have Monaco a month ago.

Could you please give us any update at all about what is happening with Monaco? Please? Is this project being scraped? I worry that it is. Anno1404 (talk) 04:36, 5 December 2010 (UTC)

It's always nice to hear praise, it means I must be doing something right. :-)
Now then...can I ask you what possibly could have given you the idea that we'd be scraping the project? No way that'd be happening. Please do note that we have other priorities, too — wiki imports, Christmas presents for ShoutWiki users...and of course, helping users out every day with tasks like setting up a new wiki and such. --Jack Phoenix ShoutWiki Staff (contact) 16:44, 5 December 2010 (UTC)
thank you for your response. Anno1404 (talk) 15:08, 6 December 2010 (UTC)

Will Monaco have a Rich Text Editor? --Hockeyben (talk) 21:07, 5 December 2010 (UTC)

No. --Jack Phoenix ShoutWiki Staff (contact) 22:20, 5 December 2010 (UTC)

Will Shoutwiki Monaco have:

Thank you again! Anno1404 (talk) 16:44, 6 December 2010 (UTC)

No, BlogArticles extension will not be available. Firstly, MediaWiki is a wiki software, not a blogging software. For real blogging functionality, we feel that you should use WordPress or some other dedicated blogging tool (it's what we do, too!). Wikis, however, have been using user subpages and their talk pages for things like essays, rants, and other things that reflect only the opinion of its author as opposed to the whole wiki community.
DPLforum is already available on request.
Achievements won't be available. A similar functionality is provided by SocialProfile extension, specifically, by its user levels component (but UserLevels is a part of SocialProfile, it depends on other SocialProfile "modules").
Also, it's theoretically incorrect to ask if our Monaco will have functionality X, because in most cases features (say, DPLforum, for example) are implemented as extensions (preferred) to MediaWiki or as a so-called core hack (means editing the core MediaWiki files, which is considered bad practise). Skins usually don't include any special features, they just change the way a site looks — Wikia, however, added explicit checks to many of their extensions to make them work only on Monaco (or nowadays on their new skin, Oasis). I'm guessing that they did that because they didn't want to test and bugfix Monobook (and other skins). --Jack Phoenix ShoutWiki Staff (contact) 18:02, 6 December 2010 (UTC)
Just a note, we have a sort of blog system on Wikisimpsons, see here for it. I also like the news of Christmas presents for editors. What would these be? :P ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 22:19, 6 December 2010 (UTC)

Thank you so much for your detailed response. this is maybe what determines whether some wikias come or some do not.

RE: blog extension. From what I have seen on several wikias, these blog pages are the most popular option on almost all wikia communities. I think it would increase user participation and therefore editing, and therefore Google hits. Something to strongly consider.

Thank you for expanding my knowledge of monaco's wikia. I have to hand it to your tech wizards, you guys are the only wiki outside of wikia to make the skin work, that alone is a huge accomplishment.

@ solar, LOL, you simply used Extension:DPLforum and called it a blog. funny, but smart. Anno1404 (talk) 22:46, 6 December 2010 (UTC)
No, look at the pages in there. They use a commenting system. ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 07:32, 8 December 2010 (UTC)

Infobox[edit source]

Could help me, on my wiki we have a problem with the infoboxen. Look here. {{SUBST:Gebruiker:Samben/signature}} 11:08, 6 December 2010 (UTC)

What are you looking to have changed exactly? From what I can see, the infobox is just fine. However, there was a problem with MediaWiki:Edittools which I've since fixed. --Jack Phoenix ShoutWiki Staff (contact) 15:25, 6 December 2010 (UTC)
The lines of the headings don't stop before the infobox and if you can see doesn't the template Leeswaarschuwing stop before the infobox. {{SUBST:Gebruiker:Samben/signature}} 15:32, 6 December 2010 (UTC)
Ah, I see it now. Changing s:w:nl.harrypotter:Sjabloon:Infobox/breedte from 270 to 302 fixes the issue with s:w:nl.harrypotter:Sjabloon:Leeswaarschuwing (it's used for the margin in Template:Leeswaarschuwing). I don't know yet how to fix the problem with headers, though; I've asked supergeeky1 to take a look and see if he can come up with a good solution, he's really good with CSS and things like that. --Jack Phoenix ShoutWiki Staff (contact) 18:02, 6 December 2010 (UTC)
