I've created two links in a wiki that are youtube links, but it will not allow me to save the article, as it is flagging the youtube links as spam. They are exact links, linking to a specific time in a video, so just embedding the video is not the solution I am looking for. Is there any way around this problem? Thank you. Contact staff. They are the only ones who can change ShoutWiki's global spam protection filter. I've had problems like this, too, in YouTube Wiki and in Anti-Wikia Alliance (problems mentioned are in a YouTube Wiki article and are described in Ciencia Al Poder's Anti-Wikia Alliance talk page). Just... wait for them. --stranger195 (talkcontribsguestbook) 11:56, 28 August 2015 (UTC)
Oh, an alternative solution: use (dot), (slash), etc. (you get my point) to cover the links... unless you really want to link to the links (make the links clickable). For example: http://www.shoutwiki.com/ --> http:(slash)(slash)www(dot)shoutwiki(dot)com(slash). --stranger195 (talkcontribsguestbook) 11:59, 28 August 2015 (UTC)
Actually this is not completely accurate. Local administrators are able to whitelist blacklisted URLs via the whitelist, located at MediaWiki:Spam-whitelist, but it should be noted that just like with the blacklist, entries on the whitelist need to be valid regex fragments — in practise this means you need to escape the period like this: foo\.example\.com (instead of writing just "foo.example.com").
That being said, can you email me the URL or URLs you were trying to add which triggered the spam filter? (My email address can be found on my user page.) YouTube is — obviously — a major Internet property and we have no intention of blocking its URL(s); quite the opposite, in fact, given that we have an extension for embedding content from YouTube and other similar video sites. Thanks and sorry for the inconvenience! --Jack PhoenixShoutWiki Staff (Contact) 20:16, 28 August 2015 (UTC)
