The early years (2007-2008)[edit]

ShoutWiki was founded in 2007 by a group of experienced wiki editors, some of whom still work for ShoutWiki as staff members. The site was being privately developed during this time, and at this point many things were yet to be done.

Closed beta (2009)[edit]

ShoutWiki started the closed beta program on January 5, 2009 by inviting some trusted users from around the Internet to the site to find and report bugs.

ShoutWiki became officially open source on May 4th of that year.

Rapid growth (2010)[edit]

ShoutWiki was officially opened to the general public on June 25, 2010 after a period of semi-public beta, during which software bugs were reported by the beta testers and fixed by the technical staff.

Soon enough ShoutWiki gained the interest of the general public with many new wikis being created, as well as wikis from other hosting services choosing to move to ShoutWiki.

ShoutWiki today[edit]

Currently ShoutWiki, an open company, hosts 12797 wikis concerning a variety of different topics in over 20 different languages; everything from Stargate to Fish Hooks, gardening to Star Wars merchandise, bad webcomics to the Barney Bunch, war to psychology. Creating a new wiki on ShoutWiki is fast, easy and free.
