The tagline will be shown below the page title, but before the actual content.

As an administrator, you can add a tagline that will be shown on every page below the title. It is disabled by default, but you can enable it by adding the following lines into your wiki's MediaWiki:Common.css and customizing MediaWiki:Tagline as appropriate:

/* Display text below main article header, located at MediaWiki:Tagline */
#siteSub {
	display: inline;
	font-size: 0.9em;
	font-weight: normal;
	font-style: italic;
}

This is the most common tagline style, but if you don't want the tagline to be italic, you can remove font-style: italic; from the above CSS. Or if you would like to be bold and the same size as other text, you could change font-size and font-weight values appropriately.

What are taglines good for?

Taglines are good for identifying where the page comes from and a descriptive tagline can attract new users to your wiki.
