ShoutWiki — express yourself and be heard!
Jump to: navigation, search

CSS, which is short for Cascading Style Sheets, is a stylesheet language. It allows its users to define a page's appearance (link colors, background...). ShoutWiki's wikis have some MediaWiki: pages for defining CSS. You can put global, skin-independent style declarations at MediaWiki:Common.css and skin-specific styles at MediaWiki:Skinname.css (where skinname is a valid skin name, such as Monobook, Modern, CologneBlue etc.).

Where do the styles come from?

Common

  • skins/common/shared.css - as the name suggests, this is shared between all skins.
  • skins/common/commonPrint.css - common for all skins, but only in printable mode.
  • skins/common/common_rtl.css - common styles for all skins on right-to-left (RTL) wikis.
  • skins/common/diff.css - used on diff pages when comparing the differences between two revisions of the page.
  • skins/common/feed.css - CSS for the RSS & Atom feeds.
  • MediaWiki:Global.css - global CSS that is loaded for all ShoutWiki wikis on all skins.
  • MediaWiki:Common.css - wiki-specific CSS that is loaded for all skins.

Skin-specific

  • main.css - this is the main CSS file for a skin. For example, Monobook skin's main.css is located at skins/monobook/main.css, while Modern's is at skins/modern/main.css.
  • IE50Fixes.css - CSS fixes for Internet Explorer 5.
  • IE55Fixes.css - CSS fixes for Internet Explorer 5.5.
  • IE60Fixes.css - CSS fixes for Internet Explorer 6.
  • IE70Fixes.css - CSS fixes for Internet Explorer 7.
  • IEMacFixes.css - CSS fixes for Internet Explorer on Macintosh.
  • KHTMLFixes.css - CSS fixes for KHTML-based browsers, such as Konqueror.
  • Opera6Fixes.css - CSS fixes for Opera 6.
  • Opera7Fixes.css - CSS fixes for Opera 7.
  • rtl.css - fixes for right-to-left (RTL) languages, such as Arabic.
  • User-specific CSS - located at User:Your username/skinname.css, where skinname is a valid skin name typed in lowercase, such as monobook.
  • skins/common/cologneblue.css - strangely enough, what serves as the main.css for Cologne Blue is located in the skins/common folder even though it's not common for all skins.
  • skins/common/nostalgia.css - same as above, only for the Nostalgia skin.
  • skins/common/oldshared.css - CSS styles common to the old pre-Monobook skins
  • skins/common/quickbar.css - quickbar styles for Cologne Blue skin?
  • skins/common/quickbar-right.css - more quickbar styles for Cologne Blue skin?
  • skins/common/wikiprintable.css - MediaWiki print stylesheet for pre-Monobook skins.
  • skins/common/wikistandard.css - the equivalent of main.css for the Classic skin.
