Hello. Recently my Wiki has been invaded by unregistered IP addresses making new pages on my Wiki and I can't seem to find where I can define user permissions on the Wiki in regards to new page creations. Superjustinbros (talk) 05:10, 6 November 2018 (UTC)
- There are a few ways to deny anonymous users the ability to create pages.
- Block the offending IP addresses. You may also choose to block registered users from using those addresses. There is the torblock extension which automatically blocks edits from tor exit nodes. I don't know if anyone at ShoutWiki uses it already.
- Have staff revoke the
createpage
user right from * (all) and assign it to Users. You may want to do the same thing withcreatetalk
, although I wouldn't advise it if you still want to allow anonymous users to edit. - Have staff install AbuseFilter, then set a filter to block page creation by anonymous users. This option also creates a log so you can see which IP addresses have attempted filtered actions.
- Here at Hub, I do a combination of blocking and filtering. --Saftzie (talk) 21:29, 7 November 2018 (UTC)
