I know the staff is probably busy, but if I could get an ETA on when imports might be available again, I'd appreciate it. I've been trying to focus on articles and features that I didn't request to have imported, but there were a number of templates - and a few main articles - that I found myself either creating, or copy-pasting (with attribution), just because they ended up being needed sooner rather than later. ^_^;

If there's no real ETA, I'll understand, but any information would be appreciated. =) Scia (talk) 23:07, 13 November 2019 (UTC)

Unfortunately, there isn't really any ETA at all. We had to disable imports due to people trying to import entire wikis (including the entire Polish Wikipedia) which caused massive site stability issues and upstream doesn't seem to want to accept any way to allow non-default limits in the import page. To add to this, lots of the dumps coming from other hosts were very unstable and required manual editing to have them import or causing really broken sites.
The plan, is, to eventually allow people to add their files to a queue and automate the very time-intensive process of running an import, however, this is a "big ticket" item which will require a fair bit of developer time. We've got a fair few of these "big ticket" items, the most pressing on our list is HTTPS, and then there's a fight for the second place spot (including this), however, as it stands, I have about enough time to deal with a few "small ticket" items on a very rare occasion or the odd support ticket here and there. --Lewis Cawte (talk) ShoutWiki Staff 23:08, 17 November 2019 (UTC)
Alright. Thanks for the info. ^_^ I had been wondering about HTTPS and had considered asking about it. XD; I can certainly see why it would be the #1 priority.
I can understand users not always being responsible with their imports, but yeesh. o_O I can see why that would be an issue, and why disabling would be chosen as the way to go.
Again, thanks for the info. It helps to not be in the dark. ^_^; --Scia (talk) 23:43, 18 November 2019 (UTC)
